Episode Title: Upskilling for All

With the rapidly changing climate today, it can be difficult to stay on top unless everyone on your team is working to better their skills. Let’s talk about it, next on The Perna Syndicate.

Ep 743 show:

Welcome back to The Perna Syndicate, I’m glad you’re here. Upskilling is becoming increasingly important to business leaders looking to adapt to today’s economic landscape. Since 2015, skill sets for jobs have changed around 25%, and this number is expected to double by 2027.

It’s a daunting task for companies to tackle, and it has two components: Aligning learning programs to business goals and upskilling employees.

Many employers are moving in this direction already. But is the push to upskill working? Well, there’s still much to be done. Many of these initiatives are simply not progressing fast enough.

In a recent study, half of all companies are at the mid-stage of a company-wide upskilling initiative. They’ve built learning programs but are still forming teams and trying to get buy-in from all their stakeholders.

While this may sound discouraging, it’s really just a tip to pivot your short-term L&D strategy to a more individual approach. You can start by creating more personal, employee-driven learning opportunities. That’s where the immediate wins can take place, while you continue to fully implement organization-wide training.

Upskilling is a huge deal when it comes to learning and development. With companies already putting full power into these initiatives, some progress in the right direction is better than none.

Tomorrow: Learning and development is huge for employee retention, and retention is huge for your company. See you for that conversation next time on The Perna Syndicate!
