653- What Kind of Giver Are You?
Episode Title: What Kind of Giver Are You?
There are two types of charitable donors in the world—and they’re both making a big difference. Find out what type you are, next on The Perna Syndicate.
Ep 653 show:
You’re now in The Perna Syndicate—thanks for dropping by! This week, we’re all about the state of charitable giving and how people are really coming through for the causes they support.
The recent study by fundraising platform Classy defined two distinct types of donors. First are the loyal donors. These individuals contributed to the same charitable organization at least three times over the past five years, or they make a recurring financial donation to a charitable organization.
The second type of donor is the passive kind. These individuals contributed to charitable organizations through one-off donations, but have not shown any consistent pattern of donating in the past five years.
This year, loyal donors are twice as likely to increase donations compared to passive donors and will give, on average, 4 times the amount. And apparently the habit of giving grows on you: loyal donors tend to be more open to supporting various causes, not only those they have supported in the past.
Passive donors may not give regularly, but they’re still an important part of the charitable landscape. For example, they’re more likely to give directly to an individual who needs assistance. There are needs all around us.
So what kind of donor are you? Whether you give regularly or not, it’s good to make a positive difference in the world.
Tomorrow: let’s get down to it: which generation gives the most? We’ll cover that and more next time on The Perna Syndicate—see you then!
