Episode Title: Why Gen Z is Generation Resilient

Gen Z has lived through a lot so far—and their challenges are just starting. Here’s why they’re starting to be known as ‘Generation Resilient,’ coming up next on The Perna Syndicate.

Ep 109 show:

Hello and welcome! I’m your host, Mark Perna. There’s no doubt that Generation Z, those age 24 and younger, have faced a lot of challenges already in their young lives. Recent high school and college graduates are launching their careers in the middle of a pandemic. Students in middle and high school have experienced tremendous disruption in their education—with effects that some experts warn could be long term.

And yet, through it all, these young people overall are keeping a positive attitude about the future. Life goes on, and they’re not going to wait around for things to improve before they move forward. Why? One word: resilience.

Youth has its perks, and one of those perks is the ability to bounce back quickly from tough situations. The resilience of Gen Z is what fuels their hopeful outlook.

Psychologist Jeffrey Arnett says that (I quote) “The power of their belief in the future is enough to motivate them to press forward” (end quote). Yes, there are enormous hurdles that young people will have to overcome—but they’re confident they can do it, and make the world a better place in the process.

Deep down, Gen Z believes that whatever problems they’re living through right now are only temporary. Things will get better soon, so why stop moving forward? This positive mindset is one that every generation can benefit from. Let’s encourage them to keep pushing forward, working hard, and pursuing their dreams.
