Episode Title: Your Backup Plan

What are the basics of a backup plan in case you lose your job? Listen in for why your plan should be based on hope, not fear—next on The Perna Syndicate.

Ep 614 show:

Hello and welcome to a new day on The Perna Syndicate! Whether you’re worried about the security of your job or not, it’s always a good idea to have a backup plan.

It starts with an up-to-date resume, built out and ready to share. You never know when a new and exciting opportunity might come along. Don’t miss it because you’re not ready.

Plus, it never hurts to look at where you are in your career and decide what your ideal next opportunity would look like. Ask yourself questions like: Would I like to change industries? Relocate? Is there a different job I would like to position myself for?

It’s also important to prepare financially and set aside some money in savings every month if you can. You might also think about participating in the gig economy. Diversification isn’t just for investing; it’s also a great strategy for income.

Finally, your backup plan should be driven by hope and aspiration, not fear. It’s easy to get caught up in the what-ifs, but we have to stay grounded in what is true. Planning ahead like this is a far better approach to take control of our future than simply worrying over a potential job loss.

If you don’t have a backup plan, start one today. Hopefully you’ll never need it, but if you do—it will already be there.

Tomorrow: How can you ‘skill up’ to create a more secure career? We’ll talk about that and more on the next episode of The Perna Syndicate. See you then!
