Ep 252 show:
Hello and welcome—you are now in The Perna Syndicate! Yesterday on the show, we talked about the mental health challenges that workers of all ages, and especially those in the younger generations, continue to deal with in the wake of the pandemic.
This is a golden opportunity for employers to show that they really do care about their workforce. Companies that provide mental health resources to their employees will see significant benefits, even beyond the inherent value of a healthier and more resilient workforce.
Employees who feel cared for are more likely to increase their emotional attachment to their employer than those who do not. A survey by Travelers Insurance found that 30% of respondents whose employers provided ample mental health resources said that their ability to manage stress improved during the pandemic. Another third reported that their loyalty to their employer also increased during this time.
Meanwhile, 42% of workers who feel their employer did not provide enough mental health support said their ability to manage stress worsened during the pandemic, and 29% said loyalty to their employer decreased.
As the economy and job market pick up speed, employee loyalty will be more valuable than ever. Companies that champion robust mental health resources at work can enhance employee wellness, build employee loyalty, and fuel hope for better times ahead.
The rest of this week, we’re going to look at the practical strategies for employers to support their workforce in this critical area. We’ll see you back here tomorrow on The Perna Syndicate!
