Episode Title: Leaving a Toxic Workplace

If your workplace is toxic, how do you know when it’s time to make your exit? Let’s talk about it, next on The Perna Syndicate.

Ep 795 show:

Welcome to The Perna Syndicate today! Sometimes, the toxicity in a workplace is so deeply ingrained that no amount of reporting or negotiation will create accountability. You may be faced with the choice that many workers took in the Great Resignation: to leave in search of a healthier environment.

This decision is deeply personal and can be difficult to make. Even if you’re happy with the career opportunities and salary, they should never come at the expense of your well-being. If we don’t prioritize our physical welfare, mental health, and family responsibilities, no one else will.

If you’re thinking about leaving a toxic job, how do you know it’s time to make your move? In general, if the environment becomes unbearable, intrudes on your work-life balance, impacts your relationships, or jeopardizes your health, it may be time to consider finding a healthier work environment elsewhere.

A stagnant career could be another reason to move on. Many times, toxic workplaces can stall your professional growth by limiting your opportunity to try new things or take on stretch assignments. Or maybe, you’re just being passed over due to favoritism in the office.

In the end, it’s best to go with your gut. Not every workplace is toxic. You CAN enjoy your job when you find a positive and healthy work environment. They are out there—and you deserve to be part of one.
