Episode Title: 4 Types of Thinking

There are four types of high-quality thinking that people wish they could engage in more often. Here’s what they are, next on The Perna Syndicate.

Ep 608 show:

Welcome to The Perna Syndicate today! Lenovo recently released a study on the state of thinking worldwide among younger workers. It found that ever since 2020, young people have seen a decline in their quality of thinking as they grapple with an ever-changing world.

Instead of survival thinking, there are four types of quality thinking that young people wish they could engage in more often.

Number one is critical thinking. This is the ability to evaluate facts from opinions and true information from false. And we need it today more than ever.

Number two is collaborative thinking. This too is extremely important nowadays, and simply means openly engaging with and building on the ideas of others. One example would be brainstorming.

The third type of quality thinking is reflective. This is introspective thinking, during which a person is aware of and evaluates themselves and their life. They also consider how their actions may impact others.

Finally, the fourth type of high-quality thinking is known as higher order thinking. It’s an active state of mind that results in clear, deep, productive thinking and in some ways, it’s the first three types of thinking combined.

What about you? Do you wish you had more time for these types of thinking? I think we all do!

Tomorrow on The Perna Syndicate, we’ll look at the strategies people are using to maximize the quality of their time spent in thought. See you then!
