File Name: millennials-are-changing-things-at-work
As Millennials take on more leadership at work, they’re going to make some changes. Here’s why the workplace will never be the same, next on The Perna Syndicate.
Ep 279 show:
Welcome—you are now in The Perna Syndicate! We talked earlier this week about the rising tide of Millennial leadership in the American workforce. The vacuum soon to be created by retiring Baby Boomers will largely be filled by Millennials. And they’re ready for the challenge.
One of the things that I believe Millennials will be motivated to change is how different generations interact with one another at work.
Millennials, who have had their share of negative stereotypes and labels to push back against, are the ideal generation to lead the charge toward a more generationally agnostic work culture. This simply means that individuals and companies value people for what they contribute, their personal talents and merit that moves the business forward—regardless of their age.
Millennials have never appreciated the negative stereotypes surrounding their generation, and it’s unlikely that they’re going to put the next generation, Gen-Z, through the same experience.
Difficult experiences can make us more empathetic to the struggles of others. Having overcome a host of generational prejudices, I believe that Millennials are going to work toward a workplace culture where everyone is valued for their unique skills and abilities—not for their age.
After all, age really is nothing more than a number. And Millennials are going to prove it.
Tomorrow, how generationally agnostic are you at work? We’ll cover that and more on tomorrow’s episode of The Perna Syndicate…see you then!
